Tennesee 52, Kentucky 50

Grudging congratulations to the Tennessee Volunteers, who knocked off Kentucky after four overtime periods to clinch their spot in the SEC Championship game. Damn. Well at least maybe the Bulldogs can start paying attention to these pesky Yellow Jackets and put them away!

Game Day: My Old School(s)

“It was still September
When your daddy was quite surprised
To find you with the working girls
In the county jail
I was smoking with the boys upstairs
When I heard about the whole affair
I said oh no
William and Mary wont do…”
What a year in college football! Both of my alma maters (or is it almas mater) are in the [...]

Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate

Thanksgiving weekend is one of the best for college football. It’s rivalry week – when passions are high and anything can happen on the field. It’s all about in-state and neighboring state rivalries – Texas vs. Texas A & M, Virginia vs. Virginia Tech, Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State, Florida vs Florida State, Missouri vs. Kansas, [...]

The Alice’s Restaurant Anti-Massacreed Movement

After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Obie said he was going to put us in the cell. Said, “Kid, I’m going to put you in the cell, I want your wallet and your belt.” And I said, “Obie, I can understand you wanting my wallet so I don’t have any money to [...]

Talkin’ Trash: Big 12 Edition

I focus most of my sports blogging on my beloved Georgia Bulldogs my undergraduate alma mater. However, an academic like myself usually has more than one school under his belt and the University of Missouri granted me a Ph.D. a few years back. For various reasons, the Mizzou sports teams never really got my allegiance [...]

I wish I could vote in Britain, because Labour would have just lost my vote with this massive screw up. [...]

Animals are mobile and tend to migrate to an environment where the proverbial grass is greener. However, if you are a sedentary organism – a plant for example – you must find other [...]

Z’s Music Monday: Van Morrison – “Astral Weeks”

“There you go,
Takin’ good care of your boy
Seein’ that he’s got clean clothes
Puttin’ on his little red shoes
I see you know he’s got clean clothes
A-puttin’ on his little red shoes
Standing in your sad arrest
Trying to do my very best…”
Z was in a particularly foul temper this weekend, so I pulled out the big guns for [...]

My First Award – You Make Me Smile

Busy Dad Mumbles has honored me with my first ever blogging award! The much esteemed and sought after “You Make Me Smile Award”. I’ve always thought that these blog awards were a little bit cheesy, but now I realize that was just jealousy and bitterness. My heart is swelling with pride now that I’ve got [...]
