For those of you who read yesterday’s post with some concern – everything is A-OK. I don’t know what the doctor thought he saw, but it wasn’t there upon further inspection. Kudos to Britain’s (socialist) National Health Service for vigilance and thoroughness.
I would also like to point out that my expect the worst approach has served me well again. It’s a pretty good feeling to find out you’re not in fact dying after a day of being convinced you are – I’ve got a little spring in my step this afternoon. Hell, not only am I not dying, I still have a chance to get an Australian visa and got a batch of cookies. Life’s pretty good.
Thanks for all of your kind and funny words.

Congrats. What a relief that must be. We actually had a scare ourselves over the holidays. Found a lump on my 2-year-old daughter’s belly. Took her in, they opted for surgery after not knowing what they were looking at, and took out what was, thankfully, a benign growth. She’s doing great, but it’s difficult to stay positive while in the moment.

Chris, we know exactly what you went through…even if you try to prepare for the worst though, it really doesn’t prepare you if the worst does happen. I’m really glad to hear everything is fine!

Yay! You’re okay!
And now to celebrate, your cookie baking wife deserves dinner and a bottle of wine. After all, her cookies are probably what REALLY pulled you through. No telling what was on the x-ray before.

are you going to do some things you’ve always wanted to do and live life for the moment after your near death experience?

I suspect he will just savor life by watching the Simpsons. Kidding aside, I am seriously happy you are well.

I share that worst cast scenario approach to disaster avoidance. And see how well it’s worked so far? I have lived a completely disaster-free life, including my harrowing little jaunt on rain soaked roads the other night. And since you’re a geneticist, I’ll add that even the gene test I was sure I’d flunk, I passed, because, I’m pretty sure, I avoided a negative result with my worst case approach.
Glad to hear your good news. Live it up!

Hurray! Like you said, nothing makes you appreciate life after dodging a bullet. Even if there really wasn’t a bullet to dodge. Congratulations!
