Since before Z was born, the dog’s reaction to a new member of the pack has been a source of a little bit of concern – moreso to Dr. O’C than to me. If I’m being honest, there have been a couple of dicey moments. While Timmins has accepted his demotion in status, he’s not been terribly thrilled about it and his reaction has ranged from ignoring Z entirely to mild annoyance (voiced in the form of a low growl). In the last couple of weeks, as Z is becoming more mobile, it’s been harder for the dog to ignore him – particularly when Z chases him yelling at the top of his little lungs, as he is wont to do.
But we appear to be making progress toward friendship between boy and dog. Timmins is, as most dogs are, driven almost entirely by his stomach. Z has begun to eat more food that a dog might find tasty. Z is not a tidy eater. Hence the image of love and friendship (OK, maybe tolerance and grudging acceptance) that you see above.

I stumbled upon your blog via the LAX mention of Dwight Yoakam. I don’t have a blog, God knows I can barely type, but found this a great read. What an entertaining hour or so you’ve given me here! I’ve had plenty of laughs, a couple of ‘awww cutes’ and a few moments of wanting to call Telstra and say “Give this man his damn connection!! NOW!” (but I see that they now have – and wow! I was only thinking about it!
Good luck to you and yours with whatever lays ahead – I hope we treat you well down here. I also hope you become employed in the journalism field. As you’ve seen, we need you!

So, who blinked first? It looks like they’re trying to stare each other down.
Too cute.
Trish’s last blog post..Seriously? Has it really come to this?

I agree, it looks like Zach is staring him down and Timmins is giving in.

I know I’ve told you, as well as everyone who reads you, that Zach is gorgeous. Just let me add that Timmins is a beautiful dog!! And as soon as he bonds with Zach, Zach will have a life long loyal friend. That picture is publishable. It’s perfect.

We’ve had our own similar issues with the cats, though you don’t have as much of a scare factor with them as a big, burly dog.
As for the food thing, one of the new moms I met told me she just didn’t know how people with kids lived without a dog for the sheer benefit of cleaning up under the table.

Ha, we’ve got that shirt, too. I guess from now on we won’t have the same baby clothes…
My husband – the Brit – was pretty upset about that shirt and said “What, do you hate America?”
Naahhh, I’m just exulting in our Pirate King status.

Vol, is your husband Dick Cheney?
I love that shirt and got it for pretty much the same reason as you did. I just couldn’t figure out what it was doing in Boots.
Heave, ho away we go!
