I’ve always had a dream of living near the beach. I grew up in a town in Florida that was about as far away from the beach in a state nearly completely surrounded by water. I went to graduate school in a school that was pretty close to the geographical center of the U.S. I thought that the move to Britain, a very small island, would be an improvement. Much to by chagrin, I realized shortly after arriving that you can’t get much further away from the sea than Oxford.
But now, at long last, I’m nearly there. Happy Valley is a mere 15 minute drive to some gorgeous beaches. Not quite close enough (I’m looking for a five minute walk) but I’m headed in the right direction. Here’s a slideshow of my favorite South Australian beaches…so far.

That would stink to be teased by Floridian beaches and not live near one. i mean, I grew up in Kentucky, but at least I wasn’t teased by the beaches. Lovely blog, by the way.

You just made me realize I haven’t listened to Jane’s Addiction in a really long time. Exactly what I was looking for this morning!

That’s a great set of pictures. Good post. I loved the one with the dog best.
My Flash player did some crazy things with your post, though…
Happy WW!

I’ve had the same dream since I was a kid growing up in western New York, yet here I sit, in East Tennessee, a good 6 hours from the nearest beach. Blah.

Those are all great. I love the one of Timmins at O’Sullivan Beach. That is one pretty dog!
So, now that you’re in the middle of all those beaches, are you gonna learn to surf? It seems like a very Australian thing to do.

I grew up near a beach, and actually spent a lot of my high school days there. Not much of that in sunny Baltimore. But I’m going back to visit in about a week. Nothing in the world like the sunset over the Mediterranean.
And man, that dog is cute. Always smiling. Maybe he thinks he’s a dolphin.

Those are some great looking beaches! In that second picture of Zach it looks like he is growing a mohawk.
Also the second picture of the dog on the beach is stunning. Really great.

We are going through beach withdrawal after leaving Tahoe. I am happy for you, though. There is just nothing like the smell of that air. Brilliant pics.

Very nice photos! Congradulations for getting closer to your dream on the beach. We live in the east mountains and go to the beach only once every other year. My daughter looks so natural there. Her curly hair can be messy and she looks like it goes with the rest of the “messy hair people”

Yeah, but I don’t see any pics of Rednecks driving their trucks on the beach like in Florida, so there is really no comparison, right?

Great pictures of the family down under.
The Aussie Bulldog looks like he is growing like a weed.
My best to all of you.
