MP3s of Weeks Past

Before I blaze in with my new favorites, I have a few new (well, new at the time) artists to whom I want to give a bit of press. For those of you that were paying attention, I had hoped to feature the music of the Sunshine State. Well, Florida was a musical bust so far. Beyond the interview I did with Deaddolphin (and one that I’ve got in the pipe) Ionly found one other artist worth mentioning.  Jonathan Cho is a Tampa based singer-songwriter who was willing to represent for his home state and he’s pretty good.

MP3: Jonathon Cho - “The Fling”

And that is all I’ve got.

From a state of 18 million.

But, don’t worry, I’ve got more for my loyal readers. Joseph Arthur to start with; the Ohioan is pulling a Ryan Adams, releasing four new EPs this year. What I’ve heard so far bodes well.

MP3: Joseph Arthur - “I Wanna Get You Alone”

Heading even further from the Sunshine State, Almonds, Cohen is Victoria, British Columbia’s Brock Edwards’ musical vehicle. He has a new EP out on Old Life Records.

MP3: Almonds, Cohen - “Cat Bird Girl”

Brooklyn’s Bess Rogers is making the move from supporting musician to take a deserved place in the spotlight. Her debut “Decisions” is out now.

MP3: Bess Rogers - “I Would Never”

If memory serves, Nick Nightingale was the name of the musician who introduced Tom Cruise to the freaky sex folk in “Eyes Wide Shut. It’s also the nom de plume of an Oklahoma musician who sent A Free Man some pretty interesting tracks this week.

MP3: Nick Nightingale and the Yellow Owls - “Another Day”

Look for my new favorites in a couple of days - until then, keep it between the ditches.
