Well, I know you got the answers we all wanna know
The more observant among you may have noticed that I did a bit of teasing about suits and flirting with job possibilities about a week or so ago and then left you hanging. (I’m talking to you, Maggie.) Well, I can pony up the suit picture that some of you requested, though I’ve fannied it up a bit by adding the boy. As for the job prospects, I can tell you that I’m still unemployed. I won’t get much more specific than that because of my newly developed irrational fear of jinxing myself if I even think too optimistically about a job prospect.
It’s all a bit demoralizing, this process. It’s been a long time since I was on the job market like this - answering ads in the paper and cold-calling. Most of the jobs I’ve had in my life have come from knowing someone or just blind luck. The pool of people that I know in Adelaide is pretty small, so I’m relying on the latter method. I’m hoping that one day, hopefully very soon, I’m going to stumble in to the right place at just the the right time and find myself spontaneously employed. Until then, I’m going to strive to keep my ever weakening grip on sanity and hopefully keep that boy from puking on my suit. Again.

Of course adding the boy to any picture is going to always spruce it up by leaps and bounds, but you do rock that suit just as we all imagined you would. Did Dr. O’C pick out that tie? That tie is awesome!
I always hated having to work to get a job. Just look at it as job shopping. You aren’t selling yourself. They are. They have to be good enough to get you, not the other way around.

I feel for you…job interviews are no fun and are quite humbling. I remember being on the other side of the table and thinking that I had the interviewee’s life in my hands, so to speak. I didn’t much care for that…felt bad when it didn’t work out. Good luck…and by the way…you look quite dapper in your suit

NICE. I’m looking at you, too, dude.
(With all due respect to Dr. OC. *Ahem.* Sorry.)

Oh right, sorry, you said “talking to”, not “looking at”. Right. Got ahead of myself there. Not Freudian at all. Nope.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Thinking positive is the only way to stay sane. Interviewing sucks. Everyone hates to be judged, but that is exactly what interviewers do to you.
Seriously, good luck and keep thinking positive.

A puke-free suit is the first step toward gainful employment. Words to live by, Chris.

Where did you buy that suit?
I think it’s MY suit from my job-hunting days as a student in the eighties, and I want to know which Adelaide Op-Shop you bought it from. Goodwill at Marion Shopping Centre? Quite possible.
And goddamn you for being able to squeeze into it!
Chris, you will either stumble into your perfect job–as I did here in Munich–or you will work out what to do on your own initiative. Relax.
But the suit looks nice. There are some men who, y’know, just look nice in a suit. Maybe you’re one of them.
I’m not. Ask Arizaphale.

Oi - headbang8 - no dissing the suit! I’m pretty sure yours from the 80’s had wider, padded shoulders anyway!

Suits are way overrated. I would NEVER get a job that required me to dress up. Heck, I get frustrated by jobs that dictate how long my skirts have to be!
Not that you don’t look good in it. I’m not saying that. But I won’t embarrass myself by staring either.
At least not where you can see.

You should’ve used “Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top in the post…

Work is over rated, suits however are not!
You just need to remember these pages, because you will need to re read them when you have a job ready to jump out a very high window to escape it.

that should say after job “and then you are ready to ” but whatever. Fingers of fury strike again.

I don’t think so. But I think headbang might be.
Anyway, I didn’t even look at you as I was too busy ogling your adorable son who is giving us heaps of personality there…
Job hunting sucks for the record.
