It´s weird when you open up a blog and discover a million different things in common, not only what you´re reading, expatriatism, but I just discovered Calexico literally two days ago. Also, I´m so not that into sports, but you mention Arizona State, and suddenly the Sun Devil in me comes out again. You couldn´t have possibly written a post that was of more interest to me. Angel – It’s a tough call as to which is worse. That’s why I’m hoping for the rare double loss.

April – shouldn’t your loyalty really be with Mizzou by now? I mean, who cheers for their undergraduate school…

Brittany – I’ m jealous. The football team always sucked when I was there. I don’t know why Mizzou insists on playing so many patsys, I mean this is the third week in a row!

Courtney – fickle loyalties. All I’m saying.

PIS – No probs, yours was great. I was lucky enough to ignore most of the G.O.P. convention, but I heard that tribute was tasteless.

Thanks. I know what you mean about wanting to click away, which is why I’d avoided writing about it until last week. I think I just got angry after watching the RNC convention. If you missed it, they showed a graphic 9/11 tribute film that included Giuliani and Rumsfeld walking through rubble, and blood-stained photos of missing people. I had to write something.

I see a star next to your sentence about the “supremacy” of your alma matres, and I was looking for a footnote mocking me in some way because we all obviously CANNOT agree on that. But one is not to be found, so I guess restraint won out in the end.

The Swampies are already gathering around here. I’m not cheering for UT this year but I really hate Gator fans, so I’ll be holed up in my apartment trying to avoid the whole thing.

Perhaps I’ll become an Arizona State fan this weekend. In fact, you know what? I just did.

Mizzou football is my beat this semester. I’m up in the press box so I don’t get the real fan feel, but everyone is really pumped about this team. People are getting a little tired of these blow outs at home, but they still set some attendance records this year.

Hey now, Cornholers, really? Granted they've had a rough time lately, but the Huskers had one of the most successful football programs in the country for a long while (there was a stretch of 25 years where Mizzou lost every game to the Huskers, home and away). I believe things will turn around, someday. I think the Huskers are something you can't fully understand unless you were born in Nebraska. How we miss Tom Osborn (and no, we're not related).
