Not sure if you’re bragging or complaining! All I know is I don’t like these extremes in either direction. You’re roasting, we’re freezing. We have been declared to be in a state of emergency. Thousands without heat and power across that area, and we’re not out of the woods yet. Round two is due to hit us in a couple hours which could very well knock out my power. Anywhere from .5 to 1.5 inches of ice so far, and we’re due to get around 5 inches of snow later this morning!

It is f-ing rediculous. I am tired of the heat and it isn’t anywhere as hot in Sydney as it has been in you neck of the woods. Bring on autumn. Okay, so it isn’t humid and muggy like Florida, but a dry heat isn’t much better in my book. Hot is hot. It smacks you across the face and says ‘welcome to Australia’.

It was 46C here today. Lowest temp in the next week – 37C.
Just a few weeks ago I was begging for summer to finally rear its ugly head.
I’m sorry I asked.

The forecast was wrong – it was 115F (46C for the non Americans). Did you know that when it is 115:
-There are broken down Holdens littering the side of the freeway.
-Your metal screen door warps.
-Your laundry dries on the line in about 15 minutes.
-Hot water comes out of the cold water tap.

And I woke up to four inches of new snow this morning.
I’m booking a plane . . . be there by nightfall, my friend.

We have a snow day, which means the 3 kids and the spousal unit are all in MY space. Do you host couch surfers by any chance?

Dude, I’ve been in much hotter. Y’all will be okay as long as you use powder in all the right places. And for perspective, try Qatar in August.

SMOKIN’ – I’d take that right now as I’m a hot weather freak…right now we’re stuck in the middle – High mid 60’s / Low high 40’s (nothing to brag or complain about).

These temperatures reflect the sum of the three summer seasons you missed prior. At least you don’t have to run the dryer.

So you’re saying it’s hot in the southern hemisphere and cold in the northern hemisphere in January?
Zut Alors!!!
The key question is: Is windy down there? Too much wind can be detrimental to one’s golf game.

You know, I’d probably be singing a different tune if it got up past 110 here, but I CAN NOT WAIT for it to hit 100 degrees! I mean, it helps that I’ll be on summer vacation then, but I’m sick of all this long pants and having to wear socks business. Can you believe it’s only supposed to get to be 52 degrees today?!?!?!
BTW I’ve been meaning to comment on your top ten post – I downloaded that Vampire Weekend CD on your recommendation from etunes. And then when I listened to it, it sounded familiar. And then I looked on my 13 year old daughter’s ipod and figured out that’s because she already had three of the songs. And then another song sounded even MORE familiar and I figured out that it’s because the Monday morning DJ puts that song on his children’s set sometimes.

Runsdeep – Y’all had it earlier in the month in WA. It’s funny, I understand Celsius fully, but when it comes to weather I can never get my head around it unless it’s in Fahrenheit.
Suzer – I bet. What the hell are you doing in your no A/C house? Can you sleep?
Angel – Neither. Observing. You know what else happens when it’s 46 C? The train tracks bow so the trains can’t run and public transport goes tits up. I’m working from home today.
Erin – Could you imagine 111 in Florida, with the humidity? Christ.
Agnes – Me too.
Tys – You do NOT want to come here right now. Your plane would probably melt.
Arizaphale – Yep, happy. Although I’m petrified that the A/C is going to break. If we come a knockin’ you’ll know why.
Prefers – The couch melted.
Father Muskrat – I know you have. I’m beginning to imagine what the Middle East feels like.
You’re very butch.
TUB – I’m telling you – observing. If I was the sun I could brag.
Damon – I don’t mind it much myself. After three years of miserable wet cold, I’ll take a week of unbearably hot and dry.
Andrew – It’s granny killing weather.
NATUI _ ‘Zactly. But the A/C is compensating for the dryer in terms of electricity use.
Jason – I know, it’s shocking information. Groundbreaking blogging.
Jill – I know, Vampire Weekend has kind of a broad appeal. But that’s one of the things I find charming about it. When I first found out that Arizaphale’s 13 year old daughter was a fan I was beginning to question my music taste, but VW is pop enough for the teens but clever enough for the grownups. Hope you don’t think I led you astray.
CMGD – I know. We’ll have to get out the winter quilt.

You know what’s some scary shit? When your A/C cacks itself when it’s 108 (42). Thank god it seems to be back. Y’all keep your fingers crossed for A Free Family’s rickety A/C unit.
