With tomorrow’s lecture nearly in the can, I was doing some home video editing for my Mom today – before she goes into a fit of grandmaternal rage. Thought I would put up a quick one because I can’t resist a good wildlife video. Unfortunately, my video camera’s battery died before this scene progressed to its logical conclusion. In other words, he smacked the kangaroo.

Damn I would have LOVED to see that! He certainly has all your delicacy and sophistication doesn’t he?
Hope you’re feeling more human today. Look forward to some time to recoup on KI. We’ll be waiting for the pix.

I thought kangaroos were dangerous! Are you sure you want your kid that close? With food in his hand?

Dude! That was terrifying. I think I’m officially afraid of kangaroos now. They look menacing.

I’m sure the kangaroo did something to deserve getting smacked.
What a great video.

Awh dude I thought the kangaroo was cute. How come he smacked it? Is there going to be a lot of sibling rivalry?

I second the dangerous question. I know you’re a good dad and wouldn’t let him be in a dangerous position, so I’m sure this one was tame. Looks like a petting zoo or something. Your little boy’s got some guts to smack a kangaroo.

Ariza – He’s his father’s son. I particularly like that disregard – “Get out of my food bag you bloody marsupial!”
TUB – I think they’re really only dangerous if they jump out in front of your car while you’re barreling down the high way. Kind of like a moose.
Nichole – They’re lovely, kind of like big hoppy dogs. When you come and visit we’ll take y’all up to Cleland to feed them.
SIS – No, other than being in arms reach of Boy Z.
SSG – I’m going to guess yes on the sibling rivalry question.
April – He has no fear. Cleland is kind of a big wildlife park with open enclosures for the animals. Most of the kangaroos and wallabies are pretty tame and if they’re not keen on paying for food with the occassional smack they just hop off. The emus are a different story – they’re nasty.
Aish – That’s nothing compared to what Timmins gets! But I’m guessing that your second son could cause a kangaroo some pretty serious distress!

I think this is now one of my favorite videos of Boy Z because I love his attitude! He was like, “I gave you food already! Get the hell outta my bag!”
Oh my gosh I wanta pet a kangaroo!
Alice is right, you’re sounding like an Aussie. I think it’s cute. Aussies are cool.

Wow, you are daredevils getting that close to them– I get nervous going thru the walkabout exhibit at Taronga Zoo– they’re close but you stay on a path and they stay off the path– they probably have one of those electric fences that zaps them if they go too close to you?
