My blog is my home page. I don’t want to spend the weekend thinking about work.
So, to move the last post down the page – behold tolerance…

More great music from Omaha today. Talking Mountain released their debut long player, “Old Gold, Ancient Jamz” earlier this year and like their fellow Omahans are making delightfully upbeat indie pop. Check out Talking Mountain at

That reminds me of the a dog my family had when we were kids. We had this German Shepherd mutt named Pam Collie (the result of letting a five-year-old name your dog) and she adopted my sister as her puppy. When we had her fixed, the poor thing came out stiff and sore from the incision and stitches but when my sister curled up on her and went to sleep when we got home, the dog let her. That dog would let my sister do anything to her and then would start growling if someone even teased my sister.

My daughter does a similar thing to Boy Z in the second photo, but with our cat. Poor creature…Timmins looks like he’s a bit sturdier at least.
Such cute photos, thanks for sharing.

your dog is an angel for putting up with that. Probably loves the attention really. The last pictures is particularly funny, the expression on your dogs face. It’s like, “Can we be done?”

Your Z and your dog are extremely cute. I need a dog. I am so getting one. You need to come to Sydney– I have a shitload of too small boy clothes for you.

Oh my gosh! When did Z get to be such a big boy?! That second picture he looks like a little boy, not a baby at all! Wow.

We could all learn something from your dog, for sure, about patience. The next time I feel like I’m going to lose my temper over something, I’m going to think of your pretty white dog. We have a cat and my daughter has gotten many a scratch for attempting to do what your son is doing there. By the way, your son is absolutely gorgeous! I perused some of your photos from the beach album. You have such a lovely family.

My kids really want a pooch. A hermit crab just isn’t cuddly. Looks like you do have the perfect animal companion for your little Boy Z. So just to clarify, the dog came before Boy Z, correct? Hope you’re having a great weekend…we’ve reached triple digits here.

When Izzy tortures the cat and dog, I cringe and want to step in but ususally it’s so funny, I stop myself. Our fat cat Lou is like a giant lump and he’ll just sit there and take it. A few days ago I came into the girls room, he was lying on his side and the girls had plastic baby shoes on all of his paws. Better him ‘den me.

Heather – I feel bad for the poor beast.
Jacob – The dog has certainly not adopted the boy, but he is a hell of a lot more tolerant than I expected of him.
Brightened – Love isn’t really the right word.
Ariza – Re: Timmins’ face – I know, that expression crossed species bounds doesn’t it?
NS – Your cat must be a lot flatter than it used to be.
Blues – I’m pretty sure he could do without the attention.
Tys – Trying.
SIS – I’m not so sure about that. He’s not really that kind of dog.
FGIS – If you have two boys you definitely need a dog. As for Sydney, we’ll get there.
JK – He’s definitely a little boy, with emphasis on boy.
Gwen – Thanks, but the dog’s less patient than cowed by the realization that he can’t do anything to the kid. It’s a pretty raw deal for the poor dog.
Yello – He’s mellowed with age.
Prefers – Exactly.
Damon – The dog was definitely first. He’s been with us since 2001 and has lived on three different continents.
Gypsy – It’s like a frickin Norman Rockwell painting.
Jill – Thanks.
Chris – I used to stop it, but now I realize that the dog knows he can’t hurt the kid, the most he can do his push him away or leave the room. So, I just let them get on with it.
Rassles – He would be unimpressed with that description.
Teri – They’re a hell of a lot less work than kids!

You should hold a contest in which people write a caption for that second photo. Timmins looks so pissed off yet begrudgingly tolerant that it’s just begging for someone to write what he’s thinking. I like his pretty blue eyes, though.

As recompense for such forbearance on Timmons’ part, you should let him go out and kills a goose, swan, koala bear or something.

Monty – More reserved than anything else, I think.
Courtney – Not a bad idea.
Jamie – I think he’d struggle with a koala, not only can they climb trees but they’ve got scary damn claws. Goose? Sure thing.
Xbox – He’s growing up. Fast.
Boomcoach – I’m pretty sure that’s the reason he puts up with it, dropped food.

HA! You’re right, it’s the same dog! You have Hank’s twin!
I’d ask him if he had any long lost siblings, but he’s busy begging my husband for a piece of bacon and cannot be bothered right now. I’ll check later =P
Also, the photograph of your son hugging your dog is beyond adorable =) What a cutie pie!
