And he's establishing his independence. And seeing where he fits in the Free Man's world. And I bet if you drove him to the pool and sat there and told him, "Nope, no lessons today. We're just going to watch." he would scream to get into that pool. :) They just want what they want and it's most likely in opposition to what we want for them.
