Things I’m grateful for on this Friday night:
- This song, one of the most beautiful ever written, and having Boy Z try to sing along with the chorus when I put him to bed last night.
“Blabeer, bye”
- Feeling little kicks from Dr. O’C’s swelling abdomen when we are in bed together at night. It’s as close to pregnant as I’m ever going to feel. It’s as close to pregnant as I ever want to feel.
- Images like these:

I was up close and personal when Bono sang this in 06. Fcuking brilliant. The lyrics burnt their way into my soul.
Blabeer.

Oh boy oh boy, the emerging language thing is sooooo exciting!
I remember first hearing ‘Blackbird’ and wondering why the Beatles had bothered with ‘She Love You’. But I guess it’s kind of like an emerging language thing.
I think I took a picture of that same sunset. There’s been some beauties lately hasn’t there?

Beatle’s Blackbird, a handful of Joni Mitchell and These are a Few of My Favorite Things from Sound of Music are what I sing to the kids at bedtime. Blackbird was the favorite for all of them. My now five year old would parrot back to me the word fly when I sang it, she’d say it in a quiet hush and look of in the distance probably conjuring up an image of herself flying like a bird. Mother Nature’s Son is a good one too. So much of the Beatles work is written so well, that it hold up well without the instrumentation. Izzy has recently started singing and none of the kids her age we know are singing yet. I selfishly like to think it’s because of how much I sing to her.

I love that song too – one of my favorite Beatles songs, actually.
It’s a crazy world, with crazy people doing crazy shit. (Articulate, no?)It’s good to focus in on what gives our life meaning, what makes it sweet. Life IS good!

Glad to see you’ve found some peace after yesterday’s vitriol.
Also, it looks like you and Boy Z have patched things up with the birds of Happy Valley.

Since I’ve been reading you, I’ve never seen you reference the Beatles, which was causing me to begin to worry about you.

Somehow, I missed out on the Beatles thing growing up. My parents weren’t fans, and neither were many of my friends. We were either into AC/DC or church stuff.
Several years ago, I asked a good friend and big Beatles fan to suggest an album to get me started. He knows me well and I trusted his opinion. Without hesitation, he suggested the White album.
Lovely song . . .

I think I need another baby – someone willing to have his or her photo taken without a bribe. Actually last night I dreamed I was pregnant. But then I remember they’re like kittens, except instead of growing up to cats, you get a teenager out of the deal. Yikes!
Very sweet pictures and I wish I could hear the “blabeer bye”!

I was introduced to The Beatles through my wife (then girlfriend). To clarify, I’ve heard some of their songs here and there, but my wife owns (because of her father) many of their CDs, which has afforded me the opportunity to really listen to them. Good stuff.
And I totally can’t wait until Tyler can play with Lego blocks. Even if they are the big Quatro blocks.

blackbird was one of the first songs i learnt to play on guitar using tab. I love it. I sing it to myself sometimes, I can hear paul’s voice. It’s like a lullaby.

Why must people with children interrogate those who have chosen to remain child-free? What is so wrong about not wanting to have children? Do these people truly believed that having children is the most important contribution they can make to humanity? Ideas for comebacks to those who insult or constantly question a person’s decision to remain child-free?

It’s funny. I sat and listened to that song about a dozen times yesterday. It’s one of my go-to songs when I need emotional release, affirmation, to be lifted up on wings.

Eden – Blabeer.
Ariza – You’re dead on about The Beatles. She Loves You was toddling Beatles.
Chris – We were singing Wheels on the Bus on the way to day care today. He loves singing. I’d rather it not be damn Wheels on the Bus, but hey – singing is singing.
Courtney – Peace in our times, man.
Rassles – I do it sober.
Blues – Don’t worry, I’m a fan. What rock music fan isn’t?
Gwen – I do too.
SIS – Thanks.
Mickey – It looks crap in that photo. I can’t get good sunset shots. Don’t know why.
Tys – AC/DC or church stuff? Sort of opposite ends of the spectrum, isn’t it?
Jill – He won’t smile anymore when the camera’s on him. That’s why we’re having another one.
Joe – It’s good fun. I can’t wait for the proper Lego.
Heather/NATUI – Thanks!
SSG – I am trying to learn to play it. It’s hard. Come over and teach me.
Jud – Me too.
Gypsy – Me too.
Cat person, I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Mongola – Ain’t it the truth.
Trouble – Ditto. It’s a bit sad, but I find it really uplifting. That’s why it’s our bedtime song.
Angel – Glad to see you back.

Aw, great pictures.

Weirdly, I dreamed about DrO’C and the baby a couple of nights ago! I don’t know where it came from, but she and a super cute newborn (with a horrible name, I might add. Jardine, with a soft J, like “zhardine”) were here for something. I don’t remember anything else about the dream, either. Random, I know.

Love it. I always love your appreciation for music and your photos too. But my favourite part of this post, the part that made me are warm and fuzzy inside, is your appreciation for the little kicks you feel in bed at night. So sweet.
