A little light housekeeping today at A Free Man. You may remember the baby pool that I set up a little while back. Well, I’ve had some time to sit down and compile the entries to date into a nifty little calendar…

The contest is still open and, as you can see, there are still a few gaps for the enterprising contestant. In fact, nobody has picked the actual due date of August 28. So, if you’re keen leave a comment with the birth date, sex and name and you’ll have a chance to win our antenatal playlist – which is becoming a kind of survey of the best popular music from the last 70 years or so. I’m impressed that two of you have picked names on our short list, I reckon there’s a prize for you two regardless of when A Free Fetus makes his or her appearance.
Now the second bit of housekeeping is a plea for help. Those of you who have been around for a little while probably know of my mild interest in college football, particularly the football team of my alma mater – the Finest University in the South. As the waning days of July creep away we’re just a month away from the start of the season and that means it is time to get kitted up – specifically, it is time to get my progeny kitted up. Georgia Bulldogs gear is strangely hard to come by down here in Oz, but I know that some of you are smack dab in the heart of the Dawg Nation.
Some of you came through for us last year and I’m hoping that I can entice some more of y’all with a little deal. If you can hook A Free Family up with some Dawg gear, we will reciprocate in kind with some treats from the other side of the world. I’m looking for newborn gear, toddler gear (probably 2T in American sizes – Dr. O’C?) and even adult sizes if you’re keen. Bear in mind that we’re headed into spring and summer rather than winter. Help me, American readers, you’re our only hope.

Austin’s Golden Bear released the third recording, an EP called ‘Everest’, earlier this year. It’s anthemic indie pop – brassy, bright and tight. Well worth a listen. Get ‘Everest’ and other great music for free from eMusic.

Jamie – I wonder if they make ‘Bite me, Gator boy’ onesies.
Kerry – And you too.
Joe – I would say that I don’t know what his American size is, but I’ve just realized that I don’t know what his Australian size is.
Jacob – Your correction is noted and you should stop training your son to be so disrespectful.

uh…if I tell you his size people might actually send more of the red/black crap to our house and I don’t know if I could handle another football season where Zach is only allowed to wear Georgia bulldog gear on Saturdays. It is a tough call.

i guess a girl born August 28th with an Irish name. Erin? Niamh? Brenda? Anyways, it better be a girl cos the quilt is pink, ish. And dude your bull dog obsession, i hope it doesnt extend to duvet covers and wallpaper. One day they’re going to play ozzie rules and wear those weird outfits anyways.

Last week was SEC media days and from all accounts, it was a zoo. I am definitely ready for kickoff…38 days away. We’ve already booked a cabin in the Smokies for the weekend of the Auburn game. Let’s join forces and use our collective powers to hurl curses at Florida. The top local sports talk show was talking yesterday about what an ass Urban Meyer is. Did you know that 24 gators have been arrested in the last year?

Sorry AFM, the only clothing items I have in the house with big letters on them include more things than I care to mention for Hellbilly that say CHIEFS for KC, and more things than I care to mention for myself that say G for the Packers.

We don’t get a lot of Dawg gear ’round these parts, what with the proliferation of Seminoles stuff, but I’ll keep an eye out!

We’re a Clemson Tiger married to a GA Tech bumblebee – I mean Yellow Jacket. I think I might have to show pity to Dr. O’C and NOT send you anything red/black. But I can be persuaded. Send me your address and I’ll mail you something.

My money’s on August 29th, between 2 and 7 a.m. Definitely a girl. I would love to chip in with CMGD to get the new baby a UGA outfit. She can get it, send it, and I’ll send her some $. Living in Maine, I don’t have access to the UGA stuff.
I’ve been reading your blog, but sadly absent from all blogging and commenting. Furiously trying to get a different job before fall (when I have to go back to work at my existing job….). 90% of my computer time has been job search. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I still read, and your blog continues to be a source of pleasure for me. Thank you.

Damn it, I would have to pick the day that is most crowded on the schedule. Although … if the baby is born on that day, does everyone who picked that day get the prize?
I refuse to taint the innocence of your unborn child with UGA crap. It’s too late for Boy Z, but this one still has a few weeks of blissful utero before the red and black deluge begins. I shall revel in that from afar.

Dr. O’C – It’s just a question of whether or not you want Zach and #2 to where red and black gear that fits. They’re wearing it on Saturdays either way.
SSG – Fingers crossed.
HIF – I’m with you on that. As much as I dislike the Vols, I dislike the Gators even more. Reptilian bastards.
Mongola – It’s the same G.
Gypsy – We actually got some Noles stuff from my Dad. No real call to where that, though.
Carolyn – I quite like you, so I’m hoping you’re the Clemson half of that equation.
Chris – I do like huskies…
Robin – Good luck on the job front and kudos on your specificity.
FGIS – Orange and blue is not a color combination that we allow in the house.
CMGD – Done. Thanks, but you’ve already come through for us in a big way once so no obligation. Zach still loves those books.
Arizaphale – What do they call them here? I don’t know that it’s really a sentiment that works in Aus.
Courtney, Courtney, Courtney – Do you know the only thing worse than a Florida fan? A Tech fan. All the obnoxiousness with a bonus scoop of the self-loathing of backing a crap team.
Chris – You can have whatever you like.
Cat – Fingers crossed!
