Florence + The Machine is the latest soulful diva coming out of the Big Smoke. She won the Critics Choice Award at this year’s Brits and her debut LP “Lungs” was nominated for a Mercury Prize. ‘Lungs’ is an appropriate title, as Florence has got quite the set. This live cover of the Cold War Kids “Hospital Beds” both channels Janis Joplin and puts her contemporaries to shame.

Hey, I hope everything goes well for all involved. The day my son was born was the most traumatic event in memory. I’m not a worrier, but I was worried about my wife’s safety the entire time. She was walking laps around the hospital the morning after an emergency C-section. My wife is honestly quite the wimp. Only her mother is more of a wuss than she is of people I’ve known, but she was a freaking badass for those few days during and after the delivery. Sleeping on the couch in the maternity ward room for about five days before they released us kind of sucked, though. I think I’ll be able to control my sense of rejection and bury my feelings of abandonment if you don’t immediately update us as the big moments happen.

And I hope to get your UGA stuff in the mail today. I slacked too much to expect it to be there in time for Saturday’s game, but you should have it for the second week.
