Nor much of a writer either. I’ve spent a couple of days trying, and failing, to figure out the best way to write about what was a wonderful weekend. I’ve given up. And decided to let my handy little point and shoot, which spent the weekend in my pocket, tell you instead.
Friday:
Boy Z came to ‘work’ with me. On the bus. The bus, apparently, was the best part of the trip.

I’m pretty sure he was convinced that I worked as a bus driver, so it was a bit of a disappointment to him when we got off. Nonetheless, he found the ‘big kids’ at my university endlessly fascinating.

Surprisingly, I didn’t get much work done, but we did do a fair bit of ’sploring of the university campus. I like where I work.

That evening, Dr. O’C and I had out big evening out. With grownups. And music.

Saturday:
It is starting to feel a lot like summer in South Australia. So, Saturday marked our first trip of the season to the beach.

Sunday:

I don’t think I want to write about football anymore this year.
But meeting other bloggers has turned out to be good fun in the past and it certainly turned my Sunday around. Brunch with the charming Headbang8 will cure all that ails you.
We lazed the remainder of our weekend away; boys lounging in the first real heat of summer.

I’m really rather fond of this little family of mine.
—————————-
Since Friday night, I’ve been listening to Gomez’s back catalog and it really is quite good. “Hamoa Beach” was one of my favourites from the show and is featured on 2006’s “How We Operate”, available from
. And if you ever get a chance, they are very good live. They are headed back to the UK for a tour later this month.

Boy Z went to work with you! Sounds like in your teaching job way the heck over there where you live the powers that be remember you are a human being with a wife and family and not a number or a robot. The photos of the day at the beach are great, even more so since we are heading into our winter now.

Taking a kid to work can be fun, but is generally a handle. I think they have fun seeing the other life we lead away from home.

I’ve found that when I’m at a loss for words, my camera comes in mighty handy. Great shots.
Sorry about the Bulldogs, but glad you and Dr. O’C got to have an adult night out. How did the boys and dog fare?

You lured me in with that beauutiful beach. I think I need a vacation of the warm variety.
And Headbang8! I love him. We met at a meet-up last year in Germany
He has awesome stories about pretty much everything.

That game was rather painful to watch.
Why don’t you just become an honorary Vol for the rest of the year?

Damn those gators.
You know, I say that, and then I remember I have a Gators magnet on my bulletin board in my office here. For no real reason. I have no allegiance to the University of Florida. I actually don’t like it for long dead associations.
But, my dad had a friend who went there, and that friend sent him some magnets, and I kind of collect magnets for my bulletin board, and I had completely forgotten I had a Gators magnet.
Damn them to hell!

I love this post, esp. considering the football aspect. I’m glad you were able to focus on all the positive and not let the sport defeat ruin an otherwise blissful weekend. I know a lot of dads would not have taken that route. You’re a good man, Charlie Brown.

It’s still summer weather here and the last few weekends, we have taken to the beach ad outdoors to steel ourselves against the winter to come(still pretty mild in these parts). You guys are look like you’re having so much fun. I must say, you are brave for going out with both boys and just going with the flow. My husband is like that too wherein in those early days, I’d just assume stay closer to home and all the accessories if I was on my own with the bunch of them.
Pics are beautiful.

Oh yeah… it’s SUMMER over there. Woo-hoo for you. I’m saying all this in my monotone, dripping with jealousy voice.
Looks like a good time was had. ‘Cept for the football. I stopped talking football smack early in the season because, apparently, my Big 10 team sucks the big one… again.

I will quote you, Andrea!
And to AFM and the Good Doctor, many thanks for taking care of the bedraggled headbang. May the record show that the Free Household was gracious in spite of me being 45 minutes late. AFM made a splendid baked French toast, straight from the pages of Southern Living. And the Good Doctor was nice enough to give me a lift home. Such kindness was a true blessing to the weary traveller.
And yes, even at their young age, the lads show disturbing signs of a mischievous intelligence. A Free Home will never be dull!

I think I need to start wintering in Australia.
Gorgeous pics of course! I can’t understand when my gal outgrew bus rides just for the ride. At least my boy still enjoys the bus.
