I've never been a fan of it either - too much pressure - and these days the partner and I like to go to bed well before midnight, though, if he had his way, he'd probably stay up later than 9pm, which is when I like to call it quits. I've had sort of the opposite problem I guess - the New Years eve parties of my childhood and teens have been a lot to live up to as an adult. And it has given me some anguish at times, usually about who is or isn't going to come to the party. I guess all holidays have their ups and downs, but maybe the feelings are just intensified by the expectations. Or something. Anyway, Happy New Years!
