Chris
Your underwhelming narrator. New York born, grew up in a small town in north Florida. A graduate of Columbia High School and the University of Georgia. Chris has a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Missouri and did post-doctoral research at the second best university in the world. Now resides deep in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, Australia. He works as a writer for a biotechnology company and a lecturer at one of Adelaide’s universities. Chris is passionate about music, politics, science and the Georgia Bulldogs and is likely to rattle on at length about any of those topics.
Dr. O’C was born in Ireland, but raised in beautiful Adelaide, Australia. As you may guess from her nom de plume, Dr. O’C is also a doctor holding a Ph.D. in Genetics. She did a post-doc at the University of Missouri where she had the good fortune to meet your hero. She works in research commercialization for one of Adelaide’s universities, though the imminent arrival of Baby #2 will put a temporary kaibash on that. Dr. O’C enjoys shopping, chocolate, and Australian soap operas.
Boy Z was born in September of 2007 in Oxford, England. He’s a big, burly, beautiful boy – the apple of his parents’ eyes. He shares his middle name with his paternal grandfather. He’s a world traveler and the holder of three different passports. He’s a walking genetics tutorial – with the good looks of his Mother and the fierce intellect and compassion of his father. Or something like that anyway. Actually, both probably come from his mother. Boy Z enjoys chasing wildlife, riding Siberian huskies, cricket, watching the Georgia Bulldogs with his father and full scale destruction. He’s showing an inexplicable proficiency with a footy. I fear we’ll be spending far too many rainy Saturdays watching him be assaulted on a football pitch.
Actually, briefly Max. A Free Family’s second boy, born in September 2009. Still in a bit of shock after coming to a world dominated by his two year old brother. Counting on the fact that, as Version 2, he will be bigger and stronger than Version 1.
The dog. Timmins is a six year old Siberian Husky. Like your narrator, an American expatriate, Timmins enjoys running, stalking sheep and catching and killing the occasional item of wildlife. His dislikes include swans and cats. Timmins is perhaps the only dog in the world to have lived on three different continents.

“The mission of Columbia High School is to provide a safe, effective environment in which students can learn, and teachers can teach.”…“We are Columbia High School, we’re proud of our students and teachers, and no one can change that.”…“When it all boils down, those aren’t just words – they’re far more than that. Just ask any student, faculty or staff member, administrator, alumni, or almost any citizen of Lake City, Florda (think the author meant FLORIDA?).” http://ccsb.members.atlantic.net/ColumbiaHigh/index.html
I always wanted to know why the indigenous people of 48,000+ years ago, only first started to vote a few years ago. “Ask Australians when Aborigines got the vote and most of them will say 1967″ http://www.aec.gov.au/voting/indigenous_vote/aborigin.htm
My vote was for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation.
Gotta love those Brizzy gals.
“ I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians… They have their own culture and religion, form ghettos and do not assimilate. A truly multi-cultural country can never be strong or united…America and Great Britain are currently paying the price.” – Pauline Hanson
I believe in CDV, the politically minded moral driven Ph. D, music lover expatriate that finds himself residing in a country upside down. I am just trying to figure out how the nerd became such a street smart kid, or is it the other way around. Your life in textual content is a real good read , add the visuals and it is a beautiful insight. Thank you for sharing some pieces of your ideological structure and brilliant photography.

Hi Chris- Love your blog and I’ll be adding you to my blogroll. Also an American expat in Australia… since 2003. Born in NY, but moved all over and spent much of my childhood in Florida, just outside Tampa. Still a Seminole at heart too! Love your photos… avid phototographer myself. Oh and the best part, you are an Obama supporter yourself. Thank god for that!
All the best in your adventures! Cheers!

What an amazing blog.
Wow. Good for you! This is fantastic. I believe, by the way, that I am definitely human but that some of us still have a lot of “dud” left over.
Thanks for making me think and laugh.

Florida Girl in Sydney directed me over to your blog. Just wanted to say hi to a fellow Floridian in Oz. I’m moving to Sydney in October and I was really enjoying your blog until I saw entire posts dedicated to hating in the Gators! But it seems the cat got your tongue after a certain game in late October

I was sorry to hear about Timmins, Chris. Is he to be left on here in memoriam?
